Following the first article on words of Wisdom from Mike Lipkin to be the BEST insurance advisor out there, here is part 2. This is a summary of Lipkin’s 10 Laws of Sales & Service Preeminence in his Live Above The Line program.

Be sure to review these 10 laws in order, as they build on one another. Skipping ahead and incorporating just one law will not be as successful as taking the whole system as a unit. I hope you enjoy these 10 laws as much as I did. I plan to incorporate these into my practice to go above and beyond the expectations of my clients, everyday.

Lipkin’s 10 Laws of Sales & Service Preeminence

Law 1: Focus on Success

• Fixate on a powerful goal.
• Know why you want to achieve it.
• Understand your primary personal promise.

• Act like it’s yours.
• Be totally responsible.
• Earn the respect of others, every day.

• Be a subject matter expert.
• Know what your customer wants.
• Master the process.

• Take on big challenges.
• Back yourself absolutely.
• Make friends with your fear.

• Demonstrate your interest in them.
• Show how much you enjoy serving them.
• Go above and beyond.

• Show empathy: listen for meaning.
• Ask the right questions.
• Restate what you’ve heard and ask for validation.

• Talk with authority.
• Provide proof.
• Walk the talk.

• Reach out to your colleagues: help and be helped.
• Bring your A-Game every day.
• Share your best practices.

Law 9: Be Hungry For Kaizen*

* Kaizen: a Japanese word meaning, “constant and never ending improvement.”

• Grow every day.
• Live above the line.
• Proactively search for the better way.

• Make every conversation count.
• Always be on when you need to be on.
• Condition yourself for pre-eminence.
